The fortress at Khotyn was built by Kniaz’ Danylo
Halyts’kyi (1202 - 1264) on an important trade route along the Dnister River.
The fortress was reconstructed in the 15th century to make it more able to
withstand artillery which was gaining importance in warfare. The pictures were
taken in early February, 1992.
